If you’re a gel blaster sniper enthusiast, you know how hard it is to find models that balance realism, durability, performance and display value. In this guide, we break down five popular high-end gel blasters sniper rifle: JY AWM, Hanke(GQH) 98k, ZH Barrett, JY 702, and JY ZM40 — covering their build, features, performance and best use cases.
JY AWM

After several less successful attempts, JY set out to fill the gap for a premium, highly realistic sniper gel blaster — and the JY AWM was the result.
- Premium, high-end packaging
- Full nylon body with rubber-like paint, no cheap feel
- Realistic screw-hole details (but not a true two-piece real-steel structure)
- Foldable stock with all-metal hinge, sturdy and easy to store in a gun bag
- Adjustable cheek rest; knob-style metal bipod for aesthetic realism
- Extremely tough gearbox — widely regarded as the most durable in the gel blaster community
- High stock muzzle velocity: ~ 262 FPS
- Realistic ejection port (looks even better with aluminum foil stickers)
- Long feed tube to replicate the real-steel magazine well
- Electronic-feed magazine with bolt pre-feed, avoiding awkward manual pre-feeding and ensuring smooth firing
Arguably the best sniper gel blaster available today — excellent for skirmish performance and realism. It also looks incredible as a top-shelf display piece.
Hanke(GQH) 98k

Recreating the authentic 98k feeding system has long been a dream for sniper fans. The soul of the 98k isn’t magazine-fed — it’s a completely different experience compared to the AWM. GQH stepped in to fill this niche perfectly.
- Realistic wood-grain finish with high-quality water transfer printing
- Comes disassembled for simple DIY assembly
- Highly realistic bolt action, with simulated real-steel disassembly structure
- 5-round capacity, stripper-clip loading, double-row feed
- Accurate replica iron sights
- Various scope mount options available without interfering with stripper-clip feeding
For better accuracy, you can install a DK hop-up, but range remains limited and jams can occur. Not recommended for skirmishing — this is a display and casual-play collector’s piece.
ZH Barrett

This new Barrett finally replaces the outdated model, giving fans a modern alternative.
- True-to-scale, full-length design
- Stock short barrel included for casual skirmish use
- Cleaned-up, aesthetically improved screws
- Rear-stock battery compartment (rotates open for easy access)
- Magazine shares design with M249, but only holds 270 rounds — highly recommended to modify for better space use
- Built-in Jinming Gen 8 gearbox, with space to add semi-auto selector and pre-feed kit
Looks extremely imposing on display, matching the JY AWM in presence. Its length makes it awkward for handling, but a fire-control modification for 4–5 round bursts can make it fun to use.
JY 702

Many players will remember the old 702 for its toughness and reliability — it was a fan favorite. As JY’s first sniper rifle, the brand chose to reissue this classic design.
- Mixed nylon and plastic construction
- Wood-grain finish (black is the more practical choice)
- Hidden magazine with tiny 20-round capacity, difficult to reload
- Short bolt throw, acceptable for casual play
- Removable top rail, but stability can suffer when removed
A high-end sniper in its time, durable and reliable, but rarely seen in modern skirmishes.
JY ZM40
Unlike the one-piece AWM, the JY ZM40 uses a pseudo-split body, with visible two-shell screw holes and rough screw detailing.
- Solid full-nylon body with rubber paint, comfortable feel
- Internal weight balancing for decent heft
- Functional adjustable cheek rest for realism
- Mechanical-feed magazine, partially exposed when inserted
- Decent-looking ejection port (enhanced with aluminum foil stickers)
A solid option dedicated to M40 enthusiasts, offering good build quality and classic styling.
